The question “Where is Allah?” is one of the most frequently asked theological questions by Muslims and non Muslims alike. Islam provides a clear, balanced, and authentic answer based on the Qur’an and Sunnah, without likening Allah to His creation.

Allah Is Above His Creation

“Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He established Himself above the Throne.”

Qur’an (Surah As-Sajdah 32:4)

Allah سبحانه وتعالى clearly informs us that He is established above the ‘Arsh (Throne). Muslims affirm this attribute without asking how and without comparing Allah to anything in creation.

Allah Is Not Like His Creation

“There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All Hearing, the All-Seeing.”

Qur’an (Surah Ash-Shura 42:11)

This verse establishes a fundamental Islamic principle: Allah exists, but His existence is unlike anything we can imagine. He has no form, no body, and is not bound by time or space.

Is Allah Everywhere?

A common statement people make is: “Allah is everywhere.” This phrase is incorrect if understood physically.

Islam teaches that:

  1. Allah is above the Throne, distinct from creation
  2. Allah’s knowledge encompasses everything
  3. Allah’s power and authority reach everywhere

“And We are closer to him than his jugular vein.”

Qur’an (Surah Qaf 50:16)

This closeness refers to Allah’s knowledge and awareness, not physical proximity.
